A lot of speculation has been occurring over the past few years regarding the year 2012. There’s been talk of the Mayan calendar, shifting of the Earth’s magnetic poles, alignment of planets and so on. Interestingly enough there is a full eclipse of the sun which will occur during the year 2012. This isn’t necessarily unusual as a full eclipse of the sun happens almost once every year. However; what makes this particular eclipse more interesting is the date! You’re probably thinking I’m going to say December 21, 2012. Nope. This eclipse actually occurs on November 13, 2012. This happens to be the same date that the movie 2012 will be released in 2009.
I don’t buy into any of the hype and feel 100% convinced that we will all be here in 2013 (well not all of us, some will die between now and then). But, the point I’m trying to make is that the world will not come to an end, the population will neither be destroyed by a natural disaster, a rouge meteor, shifting of the poles or the mythological Christian Rapture. Although, I too understand the attraction, Americans specifically are drawn to cataclysm. We love panic and our society today is driven by it. Swine Flu, 2012, terrorism .. what have you. We love to be scared.
Anyway, if you’re like me, you’ll be interested in watching this movie and get all excited about the proposition the movie makes. We could all be wiped out in one fell swoop. Not likely to happen, especially on the Mayan’s schedule, but still fun to speculate.
See you at the movies! 🙂
